Service Agreement for all life events

I, Andrew Smith will:

  • Provide my services at the agreed fee.

  • Consult with you to develop a Life Event that meets your needs and expectations

  • Conduct the Life Event at the agreed time, date and place

  • Arrive at the agreed place at least 20 minutes prior to the commencement time.

I reserve the right to leave the place of the Life Event 30 minutes after the booked start time for the Life Event if you have not arrived or the Life Event cannot proceed for any reason outside of my control. NOTE:  if I  can stay or return to conduct the Life Event  later that day, an additional fee calculated as an hourly rate will be due and payable.  I will negotiate with you in regard to costs associated with conducting the Life Event on a different day.

If on the agreed date I am unable to attend for any reason, I will advise you as soon as possible and I will make all reasonable efforts to arrange another suitable person to conduct the Life Event. I will transfer all planning documents, scripts and materials, and official documentation already prepared to them.

REFUND POLICY

A non-refundable deposit/booking fee is payable at our first meeting (see Explanation of fees below).

If you change either the date or time, I may terminate the agreement and will retain the non-refundable deposit, and will charge for any services and purchases already provided.

If you cancel the ceremony between one month and two weeks prior to the ceremony date, I will refund only the charges associated with the actual conduct of the Life Event.

Full payment is required two weeks before the day of the event (unless stated differently in Explanation of fees below)

If you cancel your booking for any reason within two weeks of the ceremony, I will retain the entire fee to cover loss of income.

The Client (you) :

  • Agree to regular communication with Andrew and to respond to all emails, phone calls, letters and/or text messages, in a timely manner.

  • Agree to arrive on time for the Life Event

  • Agree that if you are running late for appointments, you will inform Andrew as soon as possible in order to check that he is able to continue or needs to reschedule.

  • Agree to pay the fees no later than 14 days prior to the day of the Life Event - unless otherwise stated in "Explanation of Fees" below

  • Agree to advise Andrew immediately of any changes to time, date or place.

COPYRIGHT ISSUES

Andrew Smith Life Events:

(a)     Grants permission for you to take and publish photographs of Andrew as part of your Life Event record

(b)     Retains copyright of all material Andrew has written for the ceremony in both draft and final form.

The Client:

(a)     Agrees to not share, copy or reproduce in any way, any part of their written ceremony without Andrew's express permission.

(b)     Grants permission for Andrew Smith Life Events to use images of the event that includes the client and guests, on his website and within promotional material as required.  

 

Explanation of fees

Marriage ceremony

ALL MARRIAGE CEREMONIES

$200 non-refundable booking fee (part of total fee). Payable at first meeting. Includes first planning meeting, along with the completion and receipt of the Notice of Intending Marriage and other required paperwork. 

possible additional costs

Travel to meetings and the ceremony beyond 80km (return) - $1 per km. I am willing to travel to anywhere in Tasmania, and Melbourne, to conduct the ceremony for you. If you are a long way from Southern Tasmania, we can undertake the ceremony planning on line and by phone to minimise travel costs. 

If , due to the timing and location of the event, it is necessary to book overnight accommodation, I will charge actual costs for the accommodation plus 50%.

I have an office at Lewisham and you are welcome to join me there for planning meetings, if more convenient for you.

FULL CEREMONY (LARGE OR SMALL)

$350 remainder (total $550) - a full ceremony package may include any/all of the following:     

  • first and second planning meeting,

  • unlimited email and phone communication,

  • preparation of ceremony script based on your story,

  • audio equipment,

  • signing table,

  • run-through/practice,

  • conducting the marriage ceremony,

  • provision of marriage certificate and

  • submission of final paperwork. 

  • Includes 28 page Marriage Ceremony Book, full of ideas and information

Remainder is payable at least 14 days prior to the date of the marriage ceremony.

REGISTRY-STYLE ("ELOPEMENT") CEREMONY

$150 remainder (total $350) - A Registry Style marriage ceremony involves you, your partner and your two witnesses, with a maximum 8 people in total. You will still need to complete the official paperwork, one month before, and following the ceremony. Location is flexible. There is a suitable location, with a lovely water view, at my office in Lewisham if you like (no additional charge).

  • The ceremony will focus on the legally required vows and words.

  • Official marriage certificate signed.

  • Ceremonial Marriage Certificate issued.

  • Final paperwork submitted for registration

  • Includes a 16 Page Elopement Ceremony Book

It may also include:

  • exchange of rings and

  • personal statements to one another. 

No audio equipment is provided. I am happy to take a few photos for you after the ceremony.

Remainder is payable at least 14 days prior to the date of the marriage ceremony. 

Funeral Service

$400  - This includes

  • a meeting with you and the funeral centre staff,

  • preparation of a service schedule,

  • on-going coordination with the funeral centre,

  • readings during the service if required,

  • unlimited email and phone communications,

  • audio equipment (including at graveside if required) and

  • master of ceremonies at the service.

No deposit required. Full amount payable no later than 14 days after the day of the funeral service.

Naming ceremony, renewal of vows

$400 - May include any/all:

  • planning meeting,

  • unlimited email and phone communication,

  • preparation of ceremony script,

  • audio equipment,

  • run-through/practice,

  • conducting the ceremony,

  • ceremonial Renewal of Vows certificate. 

Non-refundable deposit and booking fee $200 (included in full fee) payable at first meeting. Remainder payable 14 days prior to the event .

Community engagement training

One-day courses - $200 per participant, minimum of 10 per course.

Discount per person for multiple course enrolments.

Additional costs

Travel $1 per kilometre. Overnight accommodation if necessary - actual cost plus 50%

Facilitated group workshop

$2000 - Full day workshop may include:

  • a planning meeting with leaders,

  • design of workshop process,

  • email and phone communications,

  • provision of facilitation "props" and supplies,

  • audio equipment,

  • preparation of draft workshop plan for approval,

  • facilitation of one day workshop.

Non-refundable deposit/booking fee $1000 payable at time of booking. Remainder payable within 14 days of completion of the workshop, or at time of completion of write-up.

Reduced fees for NfP organisations and community groups.
